Art Fairs Here I Come

I will be on assignment for Visual Overture Magazine next week and looking forward to visiting three Art Fairs to photograph the event and gather information for an article that I will be writing on the event.

I will post images here or on my other photo blog, or in both locations as soon as they become available.  The article itself will run in Visual Overture's summer issue. You might consider checking it out for the article and right now, I have no idea what my focus or slant will be.  I'll have some guidelines for that later from the magazine.

Blog Spots It Is

It took the better part of a day but the other blogs are up.  Now there are the two portraits and special effects art photography blogs, a health and nutrition blog and an astrology blow.  I'm thinking something is missing and there is another one.  Yes, there is the journal:  Jadore that is up and running too so that makes five.  I read that up to 100 blogs can be built on one account but for the time being, I'm sticking with five.

Awake early today in order to do dilligence, researching the necessary information I need to make my presence online, on my blogs and hopefully in my visitor's consciousness, a satisfying experience.

Had to change the radio strictly to Jazz because the filter of the revolutions with horrid details are penetrating my mind as I work.  Transiting Pluto in Capricorn on my birth Jupiter is showing a manifestation of this transit which is right out of an astrology book but that's for another blog, perhaps to be called:  "Bold Axis," which will be going up soon.  If you are interested in the commentary I will be posting on that blog, please return for future forecasts.  I promise I will not have it gloom and doom although, we are living in interesting times to say the least.

Multiple Blogs

I am adding an astrology blog and a blog to cover health and nutrition information that is cutting edge as the research emerges.  It will be a lot to keep up with but I expect to contribute to each site at the least twice weekly.

I want to keep Jadore concerned with philosophical musings and other things that are from me to you on the personal side and the other sites will be specific to astrology trends and health, nutrition and cutting edge supplements that will keep my friends and readers informed and aware of the leading edge substances that promote health and long life.

I am juggling the creation of these blogs with the underpinnings of transferring them to the Beta, Amazon Kindle which is by subscription.

Freebies are wonderful, don't I know it but I am interested in seeing whether I can monetize these blogs and in preparation for a possible book publication.

Things are up in the air at the moment but should be better grounded certainly before springtime rolls around.

Note:

I am tired from all the machinations of putting up these blogspots, Twitter and Facebook although, I did not have much time to be on Facebook today.  Twitter had most of my attention after I built my blogs. I want some Jasmine tea and will be taking a trip to Chinatown to buy some soon along with some Chinese sausage that are so sweet and delicious.

Feel like jumping in the sack now and probably will do so very soon.

I Am in Love, However, I am Guilty

Yes, I am in love but a confession now.  I admit I lifted Mark Doty's poem.  I hope I am not doing anything illegal or unethical.  I have Mark Doty's sad but luminous and beautiful poem here for your reading pleasure.

Because I am very involved in special effects, you can visit my other blogspots and see there, samples of my special effects photography there.

I am intoHaze, blur, fuzz, metallics, lace, opalescence and luminosity, all the elements of a transcendent illustration of beauty interest me as an artist and art photographer.  Mark Doty's poem transposes this (the visual elements in my case) through language, through poetry.

I am grateful for this gift today. It is a gift of the time of poetry, the time of Pisces that we are in now for the next month.

A Display of Mackerel, Mark Doty

They lie in parallel rows,
on ice, head to tail,
each a foot of luminosity

barred with black bands,
which divide the scales’
radiant sections

like seams of lead
in a Tiffany window.
Iridescent, watery

prismatics: think abalone,
the wildly rainbowed
mirror of a soapbubble sphere,

think sun on gasoline.
Splendor, and splendor,
and not a one in any way

distinguished from the other
—nothing about them
of individuality. Instead

they’re all exact expressions
of the one soul,
each a perfect fulfilment

of heaven’s template,
mackerel essence. As if,
after a lifetime arriving

at this enameling, the jeweler’s
made uncountable examples,
each as intricate

in its oily fabulation
as the one before
Suppose we could iridesce,

like these, and lose ourselves
entirely in the universe
of shimmer—would you want

to be yourself only,
unduplicatable, doomed
to be lost? They’d prefer,

plainly, to be flashing participants,
multitudinous. Even now
they seem to be bolting

forward, heedless of stasis.
They don’t care they’re dead
and nearly frozen,

just as, presumably,
they didn’t care that they were living:
all, all for all,

the rainbowed school
and its acres of brilliant classrooms,
in which no verb is singular,

or every one is. How happy they seem,
even on ice, to be together, selfless,
which is the price of gleaming.

Today: Sun in Pisces, Moon in Scorpio

Yes, it is true - I adore you.  I am the kind of person who, if I like you I love you.  I cannot say the same for my enemies.  If it could only be different, I suppose I'd be a true Christian but I am not. I hate my enemies to put it mildly.  I see no reason to have them although, that's a naive statement right there.  We are living in a world of some pretty wicked critters and it may not be possible to live a life of any duration and not have a few enemies that bring out the worse.  Be that as it may, I love my friends and I am not afraid to say it and so:  Kisses to you dear friend.

"Slow down your brain, pare down your pantry and pull down your panties."  My poem for the day and I am feeling particularly Piscean now that I've read the most beautiful poetry in the world today.  My haiku about is a combination of snips from the emails I received just now, the final part about the panties is my contribution and it rhymes so nicely.  I realize it's fresh but I think we're still with the moon in Scorpio so sex is part of the mix too.  Pisces sun and Scorpio moon, I believe that's the solar/lunar configuration of Dame Liz Taylor.  God bless you, Liz Taylor, get well soon.  Yes, I was correct.  The link below illustrates that we are under the Scorpio moon.  Sexy, sexy, now but watch out.  I'll spare you the health warning I read on the web yesterday and not going detail except to suggest (unsuggestively) that you choose your partners wisely because some serious, not nice germs are out there.

A Display of Mackerel, Mark Doty

Getting my party started this morning, I came across a beautiful poem about mackerel fish.  "A Display of Mackerel," by Mark Doty.

I feel somewhat guilty now.  I feed my dog mackerel so he'll be healthier but, it almost made me cry to read exactly how Mark Doty sees those everyday fish.  This beautiful poem floats over to me, just as we enter the sign of the fish, Pisces so it has special meaning and like the fish, I will try my best to go with the flow more in tune with the symmetry of the fish whose world we share with them.

I want to include a link to his poem here so you can see exactly what I mean.  It is heartbreaking in a way and I was unable to finish reading it because for one thing, I don't want to start the day off crying but I will read it soon.

All of this reminds me that I should write about astrology trends and although I have no idea if one person or 21 people will be reading my blog among a million blogs, for those who make it here, these posts are for you including astrology trends analysis which is a what I do aside from art photography.

We are in sign of Pisces now and one of our largest planets, Uranus, still remains in the final degrees of the sign as it prepares to omega-alpha soon and enter badass, Aries, the Ram.

When this happens, Uranus will have gone omega-alpha, from the last sign of the zodiac to the first sign of the zodiac and enter the earliest degrees of Aries.  Aries, is the sign of war and, we will see significant global as well of personal changes that we will have to weather in the best way possible.

It may or may not be possible for the global level to avoid additional war or escalations of war.  Aries is the primary war sign and a sign that will strike first and with great force as witness, the battering Ram it is associated with.

Jupiter is a blessed influence however, Uranus is radical, explosive and unpredictable so all bets are off with the transit of Uranus this summer when it enters Aries.  More on this later.

Unconventional Art That Transcends the Ordinary

The element that exists beyond the commonplace, the conventional, that offers the viewer a glimpse of what there is at the quantum level, at the level of the divine is what matters to me as a spectator and as an artist. A higher standard.  The high road.  I may as well spell it out.  I am interested in the unconventional and in a quality of transcendence in art and art photography.  Mundane art that does not suggest in some way, the spirit, can be enjoyable to a certain degree but for me, it is missing the essential.  In a way it's like watching PBS instead of commercial TV.  You want value.  You want something that will enrich your life.  You don't get it very often on commercial TV but then, there's PBS and you can go there for what you and your children for that matter can find value in the viewing.

As an artist and as a spectator and art enthusiast, I am after the essence, the essential and the spiritual in art and, if it shows itself, for me the art work, the image, the photograph, the song, whatever the form it is, the work of art is sublime.

Is it not true that the sublime has to be there in some context for a painting or photograph to be considered a masterpiece?  The masterpiece has a real, almost tangible edge over lesser expressions of art  that are often enjoyable yes, but, how overshadowed it is by the perfection we can see in the masterpiece.

A little dove of a masterpiece or a big splash of one, it matters not.  What matters is that there be some element of that which goes beyond the material, the mundande, the physicality of the thing itself and gives the viewer a blessing of some kind.  And at the same time, a glimpse of the divinity of the artist who achieves at the level she or he does in exhibited, the divine out of the mundane, out of the mud of pigments or the sparkle of pixels something magnificent comes.

Transcendence is important in art, just like it is in life in those rare moments when it can be found.  Shock art often if not always sets itself apart from the divine or transcendent  in my opinion because, somewhere along the line and it accepts itself as a debasement of art and is content with itself as such.  Not nice for the viewer. What can we come away with?  It isn't really art.  It can be called "creatve" or any number of other things but, as an art that elevates the viewer and provides in some inscrutable way, the divine - shock art and schlock art will not rise to that occasion by virtue (no pun intended) of its own intrinsic value.

To my mind, when it is said that a work of art is a "work of genius," it is only because the work of art points in this direction, the direction of the spirit and the divine otherwise, it is small but small, in a not nice way.

Small can be beautiful too as we all know but, more beautiful with a strong sense of the larger context for example, the beauty of a blade of grass rises out of the ground approaching the cosmos, if it only could. The meaning of life in a blade of grass can be divine too but that's a tiny example of natural beauty, God's little masterpiece.

Everyday art is fine enough, we can't always have Pablo Picasso or this one or that one, the greats and genius every day, everywhere but, the sacred needs to be there in our lives more, much more than the profane.

Art that enriches our lives and that has a component of the divine needs to be in our lives far more than the other far lesser forms.  We lose out on the gift tthat he geniuses of our world have struggled so hard to give us too when inferior, degraded and degrading art rises in prominence and value.

Jadore It Is

What exactly do you get if you combine or mix, jade with ore?  Jadore of course, a beautiful French word that sums up the beauty of jade and ore, perhaps silver, better yet, please make that gold and so, "Jadore," it is.  Wondered for a while what name for this blogspot and was inspired by some commentary made my a young, Frenchman on Twitter that I follow.

I am working on a series of articles and astrology discussions that I may combine here or, alternatively, I may construct yet another and separate blogspot for the astrology projections.  Easy enough to build these sites at no cost.  A wonderful way to get the word out there and build a network with others interested in what it is that I have to say and those who wish to also contribue commentary here and at the other associated sites.  Thank you, Blogger!
